On January 28, 2019, as part of an official state visit, the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prof. Enzo Moavero Milanesi, visited the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities. Accompanying him were the Italian Ambassador to Israel, H.E. Gianluigi Benedetti, the Israeli Ambassador to Italy, H.E. Ofer Sachs, and a number of Italian officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Italian Embassy. The visit followed a recent bilateral workshop held in Rome by the Israel Academy and the Italian National Academy of Sciences.

 

The Minister and his delegation were received by Academy President Prof. Nili Cohen, Academy members Prof. Shlomo Avineri, Prof. Yitzhak Englard, Prof. Daniel Friedmann, and Prof. Menahem Yaari; Ms. Galia Finzi, Director of the Israel Academy; and Ms. Jo Cohen, Director of the Academy’s International Division.

 

The delegation toured the Academy, including the new exhibition, “The Fossil Trail: Evidence for Human Evolution,” and took part in a discussion of the flourishing scientific and academic relations between Italy and Israel.
