An international symposium on Society and Law in the Ottoman Empire

Commemorating the 50th anniversary of the passing of Professor Uriel Heyd

Society and Law in the Ottoman Empire was the subject of an international conference held at the Academy on June 26-27, 2018. Scholars from Turkey, the U.S. and Israel participated in the symposium, which included discussions on Ottoman criminal law, the judiciary, non-Muslim ethnic groups in the empire, Ottoman Palestine and other topics.
