Indian National Science Academy

In 1993, an Agreement for Scientific Cooperation was signed with the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), providing a framework for exchange of senior scientists. In November 2012, a four-member delegation from India, led by INSA President at the time, Prof. Krishan Lal, visited the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities. During the visit, the presidents of both academies signed a new agreement, emphasizing bi-national workshops and joint science programs. The first workshop, on condensed state physics, took place in Israel in 2014.

In February 2018, a bi-national workshop on molecular genetics was held in New Delhi. Academy member Prof. Yossi Shilo headed the organizing committee on behalf of the academy, and the conference was attended by nine prominent Israeli scholars, including academy member Prof. Adi Kimhi. The successful meeting produced fruitful discourse and collaborations between scientists from both countries.

In December 2019, a bi-national workshop on Astrophysics and Planetary Science was led by Prof. Oded Aharonson of the Weizmann Institute of Science and Prof. Re’em Sari of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, along with Prof. Anil Bhardwaj and Prof. K. P. Singh of the Indian Academy. Eight researchers from India and eleven from Israel lectured at the conference, attended by researchers and research students from around the country.
Under the framework of the agreement, Indian scholars from the fields of physics, chemistry, genetics, mathematics and veterinary science have visited Israel.
