Japanese Delegation visits the Academy

On May 6, 2019, the Israel Academy received a delegation from Japan, headed by Prof. Teruo Kishi, a senior advisor to the Japanese government and one of Japan’s most prominent figures in the realm of innovation and science. Prof. Kish is currently Science and Technology Advisor to Japan’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Professor Emeritus at Tokyo University.
 
The delegation included representatives of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and of the Embassy of Japan in Israel, as well as Prof. Satoshi Ikeuchi of the University of Tokyo. Prof. Kishi and his colleagues met with Academy Vice-President Prof. David Harel; Prof. Itamar Willner, Chairperson of the IASH Sciences Division; Prof. Shulamit Michaeli, Vice-President of Bar Ilan University; Prof. Michal Neeman, Vice-President of the Weizmann Institute of Science; IASH Member Prof. Yossi Loya, of Tel Aviv University; and Young Academy Member Prof. Noam Eliaz, of Tel Aviv University.
 
Kishi’s visit was aimed at increasing understanding of the academic environment in Israel and deepening scientific cooperation between Japan and Israel.
