The Israel Academy publishes a Call for Applications for “Excellence Fellowship Program for International Postdoctoral Researchers”

29/10/2020
The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities published this week a Call for Applications for the “Excellence Fellowship Program for International Postdoctoral Researchers”. The new program signifies Israel’s commitment to international scientific exchange and to the advancement of world-class research in Israeli universities. Through this initiative, Israel seeks to attract top young recent PhD graduates to take on a postdoctoral position with leading scientists and scholars in Israel on cutting-edge research in all fields of science, social science and humanities.

The Postdoctoral Fellowships program was launched in 2018 in response to a discussion initiated by The Israel Young Academy, led by Prof. Yonina Eldar, which pointed to the need to enhance and diversify the number of highly qualified postdoctoral students in Israel's research laboratories, particularly in the sciences and engineering.

In 2020 the Academy launched a partnership with the Council for Higher Education (CHE), enlarging the program to include twenty two-year postdoctoral fellowships, each for the amount of 160,000 NIS per year in all academic disciplines, including the Humanities and Social Sciences. Five fellowships will be granted in the Humanities and Social Sciences and fifteen fellowships in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering and Medicine (STEM).
