On December 2, 2020, the Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the State of Israel, H.E. Feruza Makhmudova, visited the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities at the invitation of Academy President Prof. Nili Cohen. The ambassador, together with Mr. Salokhiddinkhodja Aribkhodjaev, the Uzbekistan Consul, participated in an introductory meeting, enjoyed a tour of the Academy, and met with Prof. Yohanan Friedman, Academy member and renowned scholar of Islamic studies.

 

They discussed the cultivation of academic and scientific relations between Uzbekistan and Israel, and the potential cooperation between the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan. An initial Memorandum of Understanding regarding scientific cooperation was signed between the two academies in 1999.
