Prof. Ehud Keinan, Israel Academy representative to the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) is elected President

In August 2021, the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC) announced the election of Prof. Ehud Keinan as the 41st President of IUPAC. Prof. Keinan, Israel representative to IUPAC on behalf of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, will begin his term as President-elect (Vice-president) from January 2022, and will serve as President 2024-2026.
 
In its 102-year history, IUPAC has had only one Israeli President - Prof. Joshua Jortner (28th President, 1998-1999), following his term as President of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities.
 
Prof. Keinan, who has served for over 13 consecutive years as president of the Israel Chemical Society, will complete his fifth term as president of the society at the end of 2023.
 
Previously Dean of the Schulich Faculty of Chemistry at the Technion- Israel Institute of Technology, today Prof. Keinan is the editor-in-chief of the Israeli Chemistry Journal, editor of the Asian Chemistry Magazine, a member of the Wolf Foundation Council, and has recently become a Fellow of the American Chemical Society.
