The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the Royal Society held a joint workshop in Manchester on September 20–21 on the subject of “Materials Science.”

The workshop was led by Israel Academy Members Prof. Reshef Tenne and Prof. Jacob Klein and by Prof. Sir Robin Grimes, Foreign Secretary of the Royal Society and former Chief Scientific Adviser to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
 
 
The workshop was held in the framework of the Sir Ralph Kohn Memorial Seminar Series on "Science, Technology and Ethics." The series opened in 2017 with a first workshop in Jerusalem, on the subject of “Privacy in the Technological Era.” In 2018, a joint symposium on “Genome Stability and Dynamics” was held in Jerusalem, led by Israel Academy member Prof. Yosef Shiloh. In 2019, a further workshop on “Ensuring Water Safety in a Changing Climate by Enhanced Water and Wastewater Treatment” was held in Chicheley Hall, UK, led by Israel Academy Member Prof. Gedeon Dagan, Prof. Avner Adin of The Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Prof. David Graham of Newcastle University. In February 2020. a joint conference on Structural Biology: The Molecular Fabric of Life was held in Jerusalem.
 
The agreement for scientific cooperation between the Israel Academy and the Royal Society was first signed in 1967 and was renewed in 2015 and 2020.
