Einstein’s Masterpiece

The first public exhibit of the complete, original manuscript The Foundation of General Relativity, March 7-25 2010, at the Academy
Date & Time: 07/03/2010
To mark its jubilee year, the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities is mounting a display of the original manuscript donated by Albert Einstein to the Hebrew University of Jerusalem upon its establishment in 1925.

The 46 pages of the manuscript of the Theory of General Relativity, exhibited here with explanatory notes, represent the modern era’s most impor tant revolution in the conception of the universe - a revolution in how we think about space, time and gravity. The Theory of General Relativity led to a new understanding of the structure and development of the universe and predicted the existence of black holes. But its significance is not only theoretical: It instigated technological developments of tremendous importance, including our capabilities to determine a position anywhere on the planet by means of a GPS device and to track the movements of distant spaceships.

We invite groups of science lovers to arrange guided tours lasting about an hour.
