Report on the State of the Sciences in Israel

In 2010, the advisory responsibilities of The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities were expanded by the Knesset to include the triennial submission to the Government of Israel and the Knesset of a review of the state of Israeli science and its standing in comparison with other countries.
These triennial reports review the state of science, scholarship and basic research in Israel, pointing to achievements as well as to gaps and challenges, and offering recommendations for dealing with the latter. Following the publication of each such report, the Academy appoints a follow-up committee to track the implementation of its recommendations.

The committees charged with preparing the reports and the follow-up committees are composed of leading figures in Israeli science, most of them either Academy members or members or alumni of the Israel Young Academy. These committees maintain contact with all of the major bodies in Israel that deal with scientific and scholarly research.
