In July 2019, Prof. Nili Cohen, President of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, and Academy Vice President Prof. David Harel, took part in the official state visit to South Korea, with Mr. Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin, President of the State of Israel. The visit culminated in a meeting with the President of the Korean Academy of Science and Technology (KAST) Prof. Min-Koo Han, in order to discuss potential future collaboration between the two academies. Following the meeting, the two academies renewed their Agreement of Scientific Cooperation, which they signed during a ceremony presided over by Mr. Reuven (Ruvi) Rivlin.

Profs. Cohen and Harel were part of a distinguished academic delegation that included a number of presidents of Israeli universities, and Prof. Yaffa Zilbershats, Chair of the Planning and Budgeting Committee of the Council for Higher Education.

During the four-day visit, the Academic delegation visited Ewha University, Yonsei University, where Mr. Rivlin was awarded an Honorary Degree, Korea University and Konkuk University. Prof. Cohen attended an official lunch with the President of South Korea, Mr. Moon Jae-in at the Presidential Palace.
