News briefs | The President of the Israel Academy spoke at a ceremony marking the 350th anniversary of the establishment of the Académie des sciences

The President of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Nili Cohen, was invited together with six other heads of National Academies to speak at a ceremony held in the Louvre Museum to mark the 350th anniversary of the establishment of the Académie des sciences – the French Academy of Sciences.

The President of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Nili Cohen, was invited together with six other heads of National Academies to speak at a ceremony held in the Louvre Museum to mark the 350th anniversary of the establishment of the Académie des sciences – the French Academy of Sciences. Prof. Cohen spoke in a session entitled “Digital, Robotics and Employment.”
 
40 presidents of National Academies of Sciences took part in the event, along with members of the Académie des sciences. The President of France, François Hollande, gave a keynote address stressing the importance of supporting basic research and of presenting science to teenagers.
 
The President of the Académie des sciences, Prof. Bernard Meunier, and the Permanent Secretary, Prof. Catherine Bréchignac, presented the Medal of the French Academy to Prof. Cohen.
