Moses of Narbonne was one of the most important Jewish philosophers in Provence in the period after Maimonides. The Ma'amar bi-shlemut ha-nefesh, preserved in a single manuscript, discusses the powers of the soul and the ways of achieving its perfection. It follows the Middle Commentary of Averroes on Aristotle's Book of the Soul, in the Hebrew translation of Shem Tob ben Yitshaq.
