On September 18-19, a joint conference was held in London between the Israeli Academy of Sciences and Humanities and the
British Royal Society, as part of the scientific cooperation agreement between the two academies. The conference focused on perceptual processes in the brain and in computational models. The Israeli delegation was led by the Academy's President, Prof. David Harel, and the organizers included Academy Member Prof. Shimon Ullman from the Weizmann Institute of Science, Prof. Amir Amedi from Reichman University, and Prof. Andrew King from the University of Oxford.
During the conference, Prof. Harel met with the President of the Royal Society, Sir Adrian Smith, with Executive Director Dame Julie Maxton, and Sir Mark Walport, Foreign Secretary and Vice-President of the Royal Society. The meeting addressed the numerous challenges facing Israeli scientists during this period and the continuation of the long-standing close cooperation between the Israeli Academy and the Royal Society.
