In late October 2025, the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities hosted a delegation of senior representatives from the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Israel, with the aim of strengthening academic cooperation between the two countries.

 

The delegation included Mr. Qin Weidong, Minister-Counsellor; Mr. Zhang Zhigang, First Secretary; Mr. Ma Kun, Third Secretary; and Mr. Li Zilun, Third Secretary.

 

During the meeting, participants discussed the strong and evolving scientific ties between Israel and China and expressed mutual interest in expanding joint research initiatives. Academy President Prof. David Harel, Director General Esther Sivan and Academy's International Division Manager Liat Mandelbaum Shor presented the Academy’s international activities and its role in promoting scientific excellence in Israel and worldwide.

 

The Academy welcomes the continuation of this dialogue with the Chinese scientific community and regards international academic cooperation as essential to advancing innovative and high-quality research.
