The Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities established an emergency program to aid outstanding postdoctoral researchers, of all academic disciplines, who have been unable to embark upon or complete their research programs abroad on account of the COVID-19 crisis.
The COVID-19 pandemic has raised many difficulties for the scientific world in general and for young researchers in particular. In view of the importance of postdoctoral studies for the advancement of scientific research, the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities established an emergency program to aid outstanding postdoctoral researchers who have been unable to embark upon or complete their research programs abroad in the current academic year on account of the COVID-19 crisis.
For this purpose, the Israel Academy set up a fund to award two-year grants for postdoctoral research at Israeli universities to young Israeli researchers in any academic field. Each grant is in the amount of NIS 150,000 per year, half of it funded by the Academy, and the other half, at least, by the host university (real matching). In recognition of the outstanding quality of the awardees, the universities were invited to increase their share of the grants significantly beyond the amount of their standard post-doctoral grants.
The Second Call for Applications for the Emergency Postdoctoral Fellowships for Israelis in Israel has now been published. Application is directly to the Academy using the following address: PostdocIL@academy.ac.il .
A committee of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities shall choose the winners solely on the basis of scientific excellence.
This fellowship program is no longer open for applications.
