Prof. David Leigh, a Member of the Royal Society and Sir Samuel Hall Professor of Chemistry at the University of Manchester’s School of Chemistry, was invited by the Israel Academy to give a series of lectures at universities in Israel.

We are deeply saddened by Sir Ralph’s passing. The first session of this year’s Annual Multidisciplinary Science & Humanities Meetings, on languages, will be dedicated to his memory.

The Academy was invited by UNESCO to be one of the first national organizations to prepare a comprehensive report on the country’s profile as part of the organization’s country profile series on Science, Engineering, Technology and Innovation (SETI).

The President of the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities, Prof. Nili Cohen, was invited together with six other heads of National Academies to speak at a ceremony held in the Louvre Museum to mark the 350th anniversary of the establishment of the Académie des sciences – the French Academy of Sciences.

The 500-plus-page volume Hebraïsche liturgische Poesien zu den Judenverfolgungen während der Ersten Kreuzzugs presents a critical edition of twenty-seven liturgical poems (Hebrew: piyutim) composed in the aftermath of the massacres that occurred in 1096, in the early stages of the First Crusade. A book launch was held at the MGH in Munich on July 14, 2016.
